Let's not talk about the fact that Lundqvist completely outperformed Price in the first round last year and has beaten Holtby 3 times in the playoffs.

All while having Dan Girardi in front of him who literally made all of his teammates melt right before his eyes every time he stepped on the ice.

Holtby has yet to show much in the playoffs. Playoff performance should be placed extremely high when discussing a goaltender. The pressure on them in the postseason can break many solid regular season tenders. If the goal is to win the cup, then playoffs matter more for a goaltender than a skater. If you can pick any of these goaltenders going into a season clearly Price is first but Matt Murray has to be the number 2 choice until he has a season in which he doesn't win a Stanley cup.

Odd to me Rask can't even get a sniff from one of you -
65 starts - 2.23 @ 920 & for the playoffs 2.24 @ 920 - and he's not exactly playing behind Orr back there -

Hasn't shown much? I get he had a rough go in this season's playoffs, but you're putting FAR too much blame on him for the rest of the Caps' disappointing postseasons. His other 4 appearances as a starter in the playoffs were so good that his career playoff numbers are still 2.00 GAA with a .932 sv%. Exceptional numbers from an exceptional goalie who just ran into some bad luck. Amazing how quick people are to jump on any remote sign of weakness.

Without Price, The Habs would be a lottery team. No other goalie comes close to meaning more for his team.

HAHAHAHA

Cordell...no Ludqvist!!??? Has beat Price and Holtby mutltiple times in playoffs, and has had inferior d in front of him compared to other top teams. Murray has rode the coat tails of deep Penguins teams (I.e. Malkin, Crosby, and Kessel).

Why do you think the Rangers beat the Habs in the playoffs. What's your analysis. Rangers have an overrated captain. An over the hill goalie. No good forwards.

True. But Price has never been a good playoff goalie. And, for much of the year Lundqvist was not his incredible self. Lundqvist is indeed good. But, Price is well ahead of him now....and this year will magnify that fact.

Outside of goaltending, the Rangers are miles ahead of the Habs at forward AND even as good as them on the back end. Habs are an AHL team, with an outstanding goalie (until playoff time, when he is burnt out or not mentally sharp)

I can't tell if you are serious or not - I'm not saying he is better than Price just odd that he can't even get a mention - as one of the top 5 - I'd rather have Rask over Holtby and Cory and perhaps even over the King -
for me Bob is the best goalie in the league -

Except when they do these top 5 things at forward and defense. Pacioretty and Weber get lots of love and the Rangers get nothing. And the reason is always "well the Rangers are all Lundqvist". Except when they rank the goalies.

Habs don't have any fire power up front.

That's why

Lundquist should be in that list IMO

I think you are a little over-sensitive there. Price can be better than "The King" (and I luv Lundqvist!)...Weber can, and is, better than any Ranger D-man (although McDonaugh is a great all-around D-man). And even Patches (Who I saw omitted off all or almost all the Top 5 Winger list) is as good as any Ranger forward.

So, YES....Price, Weber and Patches may ALL be better individual players at their respective positions than the Top NYR guys. BUT......after that, the Habs take a jump off the cliff in talent, and the Rangers are miles ahead of them after the top 3-4 guys are accounted for. I would take the Rangers 4 lines of forwards WAY ahead of what the Habs can throw out there. And even though Rangers defence is nothing special, I like their 6 guys better than the Habs six guys (mostly because of the bottom 4).

This list was on Goalies. Lundqvist is great...a Hall of Famer in my mind, even without a cup. BUT.....in a Top 5 right now. Price is well ahead. I don't see how anyone can dispute that....

I love how at the time, the Rags D were considered the best, Girardi considered the best, but now, in hindsight, it's Hank who had to carry them. Funny how that works.

I love watching the McDonagh overtime goal in game 5 in 2015. Seen it recently?

There aren't many people who would argue that Hank wouldn't have a few 40 win seasons and a cup under his belt if he had a better team in front of him.

But, let''s be honest a goalie who turns 36 next year, coming off the lowest sv. pct of his career (.910) and an injury that held him to 57 starts. Who would you knock off the top 5 list to put Lundqvist in front of?

In 2013 playoffs. Washington vs Rangers, Holtby vs Lundqvist. Capitals lead series 3 games to 2. Lundqvist posts back to back shutouts over Capitals in games 6 and 7. Holtby gives up 5 goals at home in game 7. I love that story.

Well. I think he's better than Holtby. Even now. And he arguably may have the best defense he has ever had in front of him this year. So watch out female doges.

Yeah, I mean who wants a two time Vezina Trophy winner on their team.
